# Oriel

> Oriel (https://oriel.today) is a daily radar for AI and technology. It collects Hacker News, Lobsters, GitHub Trending, Hugging Face, DEV Community, arXiv, official AI announcements and curated agent use cases on a schedule. Each item resolves to a canonical entity, so one project, model or paper can be followed across communities. Oriel shows what is newly collected, what gained measured attention and what appears in more than one community.

How to read Oriel's data:

- Metrics are source-native (Hacker News points, GitHub stars, Hugging Face likes, DEV reactions). They are not cross-source scores and are never combined into one.
- "First collected" is when Oriel first saw an item, not its release or publication date.
- Feeds (official blogs, arXiv, use cases) record presence only. They carry no popularity rank.
- Official updates keep the publisher's own publication time. Date-only announcements show a date, with no invented time of day.
- AI summaries are generated from the linked page and labelled as AI output. Collected facts and generated text are stored separately.
- Use cases are reported outcomes quoted from a curated feed, with attribution. Oriel does not verify them.
- "Across communities" means observed in two or more independent communities within 24 hours. All Hugging Face channels count as one community.

Collection schedule: Hacker News and Lobsters every 30 minutes; GitHub Trending, Hugging Face, DEV, official channels and the use-case feed hourly; arXiv (cs.AI, cs.LG, cs.CV, cs.CL) every six hours.
